For many high school students, prom night is one of the most important events of the year. As you’re developing your prom plan, there are a wide variety of things to consider: themes, food, music, location and much more. To help you navigate your planning here are a few tips for planning an unforgettable night.
Pick A Venue
While it may be tempting to host your event on school grounds, your students will appreciate having their most important night of the year somewhere other than the gym. If you’re looking for places to host on a budget local clubs may have event space you can rent out fairly cheaply. If you have a higher budget and less planning time an event space within a hotel can work perfectly. This may be a more expensive option but the hotel can help with much of the planning, tables, and linens.
Theme and Decorations
While it may be tempting to go for a wild theme, stick with topics that are relevant and classy. Remember that your students will be taking photos they’ll cherish the rest of their lives and a theme that winds up cheesy is likely to be less appreciated. You may consider using the student paper or Facebook to host a poll allowing the students some say in the decision. Once you have your theme you can begin planning decorations.
Provide Food and Drink
While drinks will be an important part of the night, you don’t want anyone dehydrated food can take a backstage. It may be nice to offer a variety of appetizer or snack style foods but many attendees will be making a dinner date part of their pre-prom event.
Bring in the Tunes
The most important part of your prom planning is finding the right DJ. The dancing is the focus of the night and a professional DJ will keep the event running smoothly while playing all your student’s favorite tunes. Hiring a professional DJ like the ones from Raptor Productions means that you will not have to worry about any mishaps or improper behavior. Plus, having a professional means you can go from announcements to tunes smoothly.
